Saint Laurent AW15 review

HEDI Slimane did Madonna and her ‘80s era proud in his AW15 collection for Saint Laurent. Short dresses with a voluminous tutu skirt worn with a blazer, a biker or a bomber jacket and often ripped fishnet tights showed off his source of inspiration perfectly.

His models looked fierce with striking red lips, exaggerated graphic black eyeliner and chokers around their necks. The favoured colour was black with a few metallic touches added here and there (and a very occasional appearance of some colour), and the material of the moment was leather, tight leather everywhere. This gave the show a very “sex n’ drugs n’ rock & roll” vibe with sexy leather miniskirts or torn leather trousers worn with bralettes, mesh tops or transparent blouses, fur coats and leopard print.

Slimane’s short dresses carried on the mood of the show with daring cut-outs and asymmetrical shapes. There were also a few a little bit more polished looks present in the collection like the famous Saint Laurent le smoking, little black jackets, long capes or leather trench coats. There is a real reformation going on in Saint Laurent under Hedi Slimane’s leadership and each of us have to ask ourselves if we like it or not.
