Calvin Klein Collection AW16 review
THIS season, we’ve experienced something unusual at Calvin Klein Collection. For AW16, Creative Director Francisco Costa moved away from his beloved minimalism and decided to tap into areas yet unexplored, ones we are not used to seeing at Calvin Klein. There were furs, animal prints, expressing untamed wilderness along with raw hems of dresses, and plaids mixed with Prince of Wales checkers in blue and grey.
The theme was urban eroticism and mixing women’s with men’s wardrobe which was apparent in well-fitted tailored black or pinstripe suits and spaghetti strap tops, as well as shift dresses, with a deep V neckline paired with relaxed wide-legged trousers. The theme was also reflected in the accompanying footwear, swapping one style for the other – elevated oxfords to stilettos. Thin belts cinching the waist or loosely wrapped around the hips were another focus of the show, emphasising the feminine part.
A sign of true luxury were multi-coloured polished stones and geodes, hollow round stones filed with crystals, which were inserted into intriguing peep holes in shift dresses, as well as empty circles of necklaces. And so were polished leather coats with exaggerated fur collars, dresses and suits in black and brown.
