Bottega Veneta unveils its new SS17 advertising campaign featuring Lauren Hutton
BOTTEGA Veneta’s Art of Collaboration project continues with its newly released advertising campaign for SS17. This season the collection celebrating the brand’s 50th anniversary was captured on film by American photographer Todd Hido, whose speciality is photographs of houses and urban landscapes, however his later works include people set in interiors of homes creating an intimate narrative as he does with this campaign.
“I am a great admirer of Todd’s work, his images speak quietly yet extremely suggestively in a subtle way and his use of light and colour creates moods that are unique. We have a similar approach and sensibility, I like his sense of delicacy and intuition,” says Tomas Maier, Bottega Veneta’s creative director who also marks 15 years at the helm of the fashion house with this collection.
The location chosen for this shoot was New York’s Modulightor Building by a 20th century architect Paul Rudolph. Set in Manhattan’s Decorative Arts district, the building features a combination of small and large windows laid out both vertically and horizontally, interwoven in a way that makes the façade look like a collage and creates an airy and light-filled space inside. This location keeps up with Maier’s love for modern art and architecture.
Lauren Hutton returns as the main star of the campaign as she was at Bottega Veneta’s star studded show last September at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera during Milan Fashion Week, as to Maier she represents the idea of an iconic beauty. Hutton is joined by models Joan Smalls, Vittoria Ceretti, Hannes Gobeyn and Morten Nielsen on this occasion to celebrate Bottega Veneta’s 50 years.
