Banyan Tree review
Bangkok, Thailand
Hospitality at its Best
Banyan Tree Bangkok knows how to make you feel special. Upon arrival, following an exhausting 16-hour flight, our spirits were instantly lifted by the kind and sincere welcome we received the minute we stepped out of our taxi. This included a traditional phuang malai, a flower garland for good luck, which we were decorated with, enhanced by the traditional Thai greeting bows. Banyan Tree Bangkok transforms hospitality into an art form with the staff’s genuine kindness and thoughtfulness as every guest is treated like a king or queen.
The hotel is located in the central business district, which offers a view of the intricate lego-like skyscrapers of Bangkok surrounding the 61-storey hotel and the bustling streets of the capital as well as its infamous traffic. You can admire the impressive view not just from your room but even more so while swimming in the rooftop pool on the 21st level after the sun sets, when the buildings around light up like Christmas trees and the moon shines bright. However, the top 61st floor and its 360° panorama is reserved for the Vertigo Grill with the joint Moon Bar, offering al fresco dining, serving fresh seafood and steaks. Just make sure it’s not raining on the day of your reservation.
Such a central location is also perfect for getting around the city as most sights such as the ornate temples like Wat Pho and Wat Arun or the Grand Palace where the king resides, popular night markets and even the Suvarnabhumi airport are only half an hour drive away, if the traffic permits, that is.
