The Art of Giving at Clerkenwell London
Looking for the right gift can be, at times, like looking for the right wand at Ollivander’s shop. Or at least it should be, according to the design hub Clerkenwell London and their 2015 Christmas concept. And just like at Ollivander’s, you must trust that the right one will come to you.
The concept, titled ‘Presence: The Art of Giving’, goes by the motto, “Attention is the rarest and purest form of generosity”. Encouraging customers to give thoughtful and meaningful gifts to loved ones, and to give up the ‘shop until you drop’ mentality during the holiday season.
“We believe that Christmas shopping has become too much of a drag race, all too often conducted in a thoughtless rush,” said Gayle Noonan, creative director of Clerkenwell London. “There are more meaningful ways to share, and we believe the perfect gift communicates love, thoughtfulness and shared experiences.”
The design space offers a curated selection of everything from women’s and men’s clothes, beauty products, stationary, and home accessories and furniture for gift hunters to choose from. The process is broken down into four stages to offer customers guidance in selecting the perfect gift: ‘The Contemplation’, during which the giver decides to give a thoughtful gift; ‘The Quest’ stands for the search for the perfect gift, then moving on to ‘The Commitment’ when the right gift is found, and finally ‘The Presentation’ where customers can master the art of gift wrapping or writing a personal message.
Additionally, to educate shoppers on the art of gift wrapping, Clerkenwell London set up a wrapping room in its space and will unveil one of 24 ways to wrap each day in the lead up to Christmas Day, forming its own beautifully crafted advent calendar.
